CEC hosts meeting with International Organizations and Diplomatic Corps
The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Georgia has held a meeting with representatives of international organizations and the diplomatic corps accredited in Georgia.
CEC Chairman Giorgi Kalandarishvili and his deputy, Giorgi Sharabidze, briefed participants on preparations for the 4 October municipal elections.
According to the CEC press office, they provided detailed information about activities and innovations implemented by the election administration for the upcoming elections, including new regulations and decisions.
As Giorgi Kalandarishvili noted, “the election administration analyzes each election and identifies issues afterward, based on which it consistently makes appropriate decisions.
This, he emphasized, indicates that the administration is doing everything possible to leave no room for speculation with unfounded accusations, to respond to all identified or potential risks, and to continue taking appropriate preventive measures in the future.”
The meeting also addressed the 26 October elections and subsequent developments.
Participants discussed challenges faced during these elections. Special attention was drawn to the information campaign against the election administration.
The parties also discussed the implementation status of OSCE/ODIHR recommendations and the election administration’s future plans in this regard.
Today’s meeting was attended by 20 representatives of international organizations and the diplomatic corps, along with several heads of structural units from the CEC.
