Tbilisi Mayor commemorates victims of June 13 tragedy

Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, alongside Vice Mayor Giorgi Tkemalade and Tbilisi City Assembly (Sakrebulo) Chair Zurab Abashidze, laid a wreath at the memorial of the June 13 tragedy and paid tribute to the tragedy victims.

“June 13, 2015 was a very difficult day for our city. We remember the horror that unfolded – we have dozens of dead people, and several missing. We got devastated and destroyed infrastructure. This was hard, but at the same time, this day was the symbol of unity, solidarity and standing together.

We saw youngsters, the elderly, children from different regions and cities, who with their bare hands were assisting relevant services and stood in solidarity with our capital city. Once again, I would like to express my condolences to the families of the deceased. May God rest their souls in peace,” he said.

Eleven years have passed since the June 13, 2015 tragedy in Tbilisi when flooding of the Vere River due to a landslide in the gorge claimed the lives of 21 people and left 2 individuals missing.
