Gakharia’s Sharashidze calls on other opposition to clarify post-election plans in case of boycott
“Everyone should mind their own party. I would advise the opposition to give a clear answer to our question: what is their plan after the elections if they choose to boycott?” – said Giorgi Sharashidze, a member of the political council of the Gakharia For Georgia party.
According to him, “the public needs to understand what outcomes a boycott might bring, and whether it can actually lead to the collapse of Georgian Dream.”
“We believe that Georgian Dream no longer deserves the support of the electorate it currently enjoys. If there’s anything Georgian Dream fears, it’s the erosion and loss of its electoral base. We are confident we can speak to these voters. They understand well what Georgian Dream really is – an anti-state force.
People who believe they should go to the polls and express their protest vote should have a real alternative. We will offer them that alternative,” Sharashidze noted.
Remarking on Gakharia, he noted that he is “at the most critical frontlines.”
“Today, the fate of our homeland is being decided – both in Georgia and in Europe’s capitals, especially Brussels. When our visa-free travel was at risk of being revoked, Gakharia personally convinced all foreign ministers that this must not happen – that the Georgian people must retain this achievement,” Sharashidze said.
Regarding the upcoming elections, he mentioned that there will be two types of candidates:
“One option involves politically neutral, non-partisan candidates. The second option could include party-affiliated candidates – in some cases from Lelo, and others from Gakharia for Georgia. But that does not mean that we and Lelo will be competing against each other. Consultations are already underway,” he added.
