“We see that Georgia, and in no case the Georgian Dream regime, is in the interest of the U.S. We have a unique geopolitical location. The U.S. has made much effort in the development of the country’s democracy,” said Giorgi Sharashidze, MP from the Gakharia for Georgia party.

According to Sharashidze, the U.S. Congress supports Georgia’s aspirations to break free from Russian influence once and for all and become a member of the European Union and the civilized world.

“The U.S. House of Representatives Act confirms that the U.S. stands with Georgia and the Georgian people. It is regrettable that, instead of keeping the promise to reset relations with the U.S., the Georgian Dream and Mr Kobakhidze respond to the U.S. Secretary of State, accusing him of lies. The Georgian Dream is responsible for the annulment and abolition of the U.S.-Georgia strategic partnership. Neither the GD nor Kobakhidze will evade this responsibility,” he said.

Sharashidze noted that the U.S. Secretary of State shared the explanations and viewpoint provided by Congressman Joe Wilson.

“When you talk about an American congressman, you have to be a little more careful, especially about a congressman who represents the interests of the new American administration, and this was confirmed once again by Marco Rubio’s statement. The Georgian side and the Georgian Dream should be more cautious when making messages,” he said.

U.S. House of Representatives passed the Countering China’s Control of the Caucasus Act on June 8. It requires the Secretary of State, in coordination with the Director of National Intelligence and the Secretary of Defence, to produce a classified report examining the extent of Russian and Chinese intelligence penetration and the intersection of their influence in Georgia.

Congressman Joe Wilson said that “the illegitimate Georgian Dream regime is currently in the process of selling the country to the Chinese Communist Party and war criminal Putin and Iran, which is against the will of the Georgian people and the interests of the United States.”
