Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, Nikoloz Samkharadze, held a meeting with the Slovakian Member of European Parliament, Branislav Ondrus, who is paying a visit to Georgia.
The meeting was attended by the First Deputy Chair of the Committee, Vakhtang Turnava, and the Deputy Chair of the European Affairs Committee of the Parliament of Slovakia, Michal Stuška.
The parties reviewed the domestic political situation, the Georgia-EU relations, the EU integration of the country and the lingering challenges.
The discourse addressed the recent resolutions adopted by the European Parliament, highlighting their perceived unfairness towards Georgia. The resolutions were deemed not to accurately reflect the situation.
According to Branislav Ondrus, the European Parliament and the European Commission should engage in a rational dialogue with the Government of Georgia.
The parties reviewed security challenges, the dire situation in the Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions occupied by Russia, and the potential consequences of the war in Ukraine for Georgia.
