Chairman of the parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee, Nikoloz Samkharadze, met Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of the Vatican.

According to the press service of the Georgian Parliament, the meeting focused on Georgia’s European integration process. Cardinal Pietro Parolin expressed interest in the problems existing in Georgia-EU relations.

The parties reviewed the situation in Georgia’s occupied Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions and Georgia’s crucial role in the resolution of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict and the regional security process.

The Georgian parliamentary delegation also met with Pope of Rome Leo XIV. Deputy Chair of the Committee, Tornike Cheishvili and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Holy See (Vatican) Davit Mekvabishvili, attended the meeting.
