Vice-Speaker: Election boycotters aim to destabilize, escalate tensions

The radical opposition’s propaganda has managed to engage a significant portion of society in debates about whether the opposition should participate in the elections or boycott them, claiming that the parliamentary elections were allegedly rigged or that the foreign policy has changed. It is important to analyze the content of these claims in more detail, said First Vice-Speaker of the Parliament, Gia Volski.

According to Volski, those refusing to participate in the elections have two goals: to destabilize the country and maintain ongoing political tension, which could later lead to a revolutionary process and cause significant damage to Georgia’s economy.

“Destabilization will hinder economic progress. This is their objective. Of course, neither the elections were rigged, nor has foreign policy changed. Were the elections rigged? Are the slogans voiced at the rally in line with reality when they talk about changing foreign policy, and what does such a change even mean? We’ve shown you what pursuing pro-Russian interests led to when the ‘National Movement’ governed the country until 2012. I will provide a list of their actions, and you will see that you cannot make any valid complaints against us. The conversation has shifted from the issues raised by Khabeishvili and Bokuchava, which is incorrect. Society needs to understand how unjust the complaints against the Georgian government are—they are unfounded and aimed at undermining Georgia,” Volski stated.
