SSSG Head meets with GID Co-Chairs
The Head of the State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG), Geka Geladze, together with his First Deputy, Lasha Magradze, met with the Co-Chairs of the Geneva International Discussions (GID): Magdalena Grono, Mohamed Khaled Khiari, and Christoph Späti.
During the meeting, the parties reviewed the current situation in the occupied territories and along the occupation line. They also discussed the ongoing security challenges in the region. Particular attention was paid to the release of individuals illegally detained in Georgia’s occupied territories. The discussion also focused on the unlawful process of so-called borderisation observed along the occupation line and its subsequent consequences.
The participants emphasised the importance of effectively utilising and enhancing the potential of current negotiation formats, particularly the Geneva International Discussions and the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM).
Additionally, the SSSG press service emphasised the crucial need to grant the European Union Monitoring Mission unrestricted access across all occupied territories.
