Vice-Speaker: Georgia should maintain one-sided friendship with UK, hope for better days

“Britain is one of the few European countries where the law is upheld regardless of political assessments from abroad. The UK is fully aware that the law in Georgia has been grossly and systematically violated,” stated the first Vice-Speaker of Parliament Gia Volski.

“This systematic violation is largely reflected in what is referred to as the ‘revolutionary plan.’ If a state enforces the law—whether it’s Georgia or another country—it must be assessed from this perspective. If not, then we are dealing with political bias and objectives, which, unfortunately, are also present in certain British institutions,” said Volski.

When asked whether the British Ambassador might be summoned to the Georgian Foreign Ministry, Volski responded, “I don’t know—that’s not my area.”

“I believe we should continue working in a spirit of one-sided friendship, hoping for better days ahead,” he concluded.

Volski’s comments follow a statement by the British Embassy in Georgia, which confirmed that on June 30, the Georgian Chargé d’Affaires was summoned to the UK Foreign Office. ” A senior official made clear the UK’s firm opposition to their country’s increasingly harmful trajectory and strongly objected to false claims and public attacks launched by Georgian Dream against the UK and international partners,” the UK’s Embassy said in a statement.
