Vice-Speaker: May 26 rally called ‘peaceful,’ but same claims were made on October 4, they plan ‘peaceful confrontation’
“After October 4, there have been no further attempts at confrontation, but now there are indications of a return to the same plan,” the First Vice-Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Gia Volski, has commented on an upcoming rally announced by the Opposition Alliance for May 26.
Volski alleged that the opposition is preparing what he referred to as a “peaceful confrontation.”
“The application was submitted to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Tbilisi City Hall within the required timeframe, but permission for the rally was not granted due to non-compliance with legal requirements. In particular, on May 26, the installation of stages and related infrastructure is not possible, as official events are already planned for that day,” he said.
According to Volski, previous attempts at confrontation had not occurred since October 4, but he claimed that the current plans could lead to renewed tensions.
“They say that the rally on May 26 will be ‘peaceful,’ but the same was said on October 4 as well. Now they are planning a ‘peaceful confrontation’,” he added.
