Mikheil Saakashvili: Georgian NGOs have always been appendages of regime, Western donors are actually helping regime

Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has criticized Georgian non-governmental organizations, claiming they have no public trust and have historically served as “appendages of the regime.”

“Everything you need to know about Georgian NGOs — the Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association said yesterday that Garibashvili is being persecuted for political reasons.

This was an association that did not say a single word about me once in 14 years, and one of its former chairs became a ‘Georgian Dream’ defense minister, another became the ‘Georgian Dream’ parliament speaker, and a third became a deputy speaker in the same parliament.
