Parliament Speaker: British Ambassador appointed as our de facto censor and commandant
“The British Ambassador to Tbilisi has been appointed as our de facto censor and commandant; you can ask who is responsible for what. As far as I understand, he has been appointed as the commandant here,” said the Chairman of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili.
He warned that Britain would be unable to assist Georgia if tensions with Russia escalate.
“We have a de facto censor in Tbilisi, appointed as the British Ambassador. You should ask him what the decisions regarding Imedi and PosTV mean for them. They have their own measures and rules, and it appears that the British Ambassador has been appointed as a censor here. Given his recent statements, if I were the Foreign Ministry, I would have summoned him. He’s out there demanding escalation with Russia. It’s shameful. If things do escalate, will British soldiers be stationed here? Just as they left Georgia in 1920, abandoning us to the Russian Eleventh Army, no one will pay attention to Georgia now,” Papuashvili stated.
