Police arrest foreign national in blogger Daur Buava’s death case
Officers from the Vake-Saburtalo Main Division of the Tbilisi Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) have arrested a foreign national on charges of abandonment in a situation of danger, in connection with the investigation into the death of blogger Daur Buava.
According to the MIA, the investigation is in progress under Article 115 (driving a person to suicide) and Article 128 (abandonment in a helpless state) of the Criminal Code, and comprehensive investigative actions regarding the case are ongoing.
The investigation determined that the detained individual and Daur Buava were friends. They were together in a temporary residence of Daur Buava in the Didi Dighomi district of Tbilisi, where they consumed narcotic drugs and felt unwell.
The detained individual confirmed while questioning that he had left his friend alone being in a critical condition. He locked the door with another key and did not notify or ask anyone for assistance.
Blogger Daur Buava was found dead in his apartment on August 28. According to available information, Buava had likely been dead for several days. The body was discovered after neighbors summoned a rescue team.
