Vice-Speaker: Structures within collective UNM are engaged in coordinated disinformation, destabilization efforts

First Vice-Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Gia Volski, has stated that structures within what he described as the collective “National Movement,”  are engaged in coordinated disinformation and destabilization efforts. Volski commented on a recent article published by the Washington Free Beacon, which was based on a report co-authored by former Georgian MP Giorgi Kandelaki.

He claimed that some individuals are involved in organizing scenarios of physical confrontation, while others focus on producing and disseminating propaganda content through media channels.

Volski also criticized Giorgi Kandelaki, calling him a leading figure in what he described as a disinformation campaign.

According to Volsky, the claims cited in the article, including allegations about training camps and terrorist activity in Georgia, are fabricated and politically motivated. He argued that such narratives are part of a broader strategy aimed at destabilizing the country and influencing its political trajectory.

“One of the key levers, directions, of course, is Georgia, which, first and foremost, has an extremely important geographical location. In this context, it is suggested that not a patriotic government should be in place, but rather one that carries out assigned tasks and objectives.

Another element is the creation of tension in relation to Russia, which, in this view, would reduce its capacity to limit its aggression toward Europe. This is a general overview, but a detailed, calendar-based plan can allegedly be discerned within it.

As for Kandelaki’s statement, it is considered part of this scenario, although it is not new. We periodically hear claims that camps have been established in Georgia for terrorist training or for the training of young Iranian militants. These narratives appear from time to time, with varying intensity.

Kandelaki is one of the leading figures of this line of disinformation within the broader “collective National Movement” space,” he said.
