Car plunges into Mtkvari River in Tbilisi; rescue operations underway

Following a road traffic accident in Tbilisi, a car has fallen into the Mtkvari River. Firefighters and rescuers from the Emergency Management Service are currently conducting a rescue operation at the scene.

The Emergency Management Service told the GPB First Channel that no information regarding casualties is available at this stage.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has launched an investigation into the incident under Article 276, which pertains to the breach of traffic safety or vehicle operation regulations.
