Journalists rally at Batumi Police Headquarters

Various journalists gathered at a protest rally at Batumi Police Headquarters. Participants in the rally are demanding the suspension of Batumi Police Chief Irakli Dgebuadze’s powers while expressing solidarity with Mzia Amaglobeli, founder of Batumelebi and Netgazeti media outlets.

“I would like to express solidarity with Dgebuadze’s employees, as he treats them the same way he treated Mzia. Dgebuadze even planned to physically retaliate against Mzia, and I want to thank the female police officers who protected her and prevented that from happening. Our main demand is to suspend Dgebuadze’s authority until the truth is established regarding the acts of violence he has committed, a matter that GYLA has already addressed,” stated one of the demonstrators.

Journalists also held a similar protest in front of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Tbilisi, voicing their demands.
