Georgian Dream MP: Georgia has full right to protect state interests
Georgian Dream parliamentary majority member Irakli Kadagishvili has asserted that Georgia is a “fully sovereign state” with every right to protect state and public interests within the framework of democratic laws.
Kadagishvili was responding to questions about a statement from the Swedish Embassy in Georgia, which noted that Sweden’s appointment of a special investigator to assess foreign funding and the Law on Transparency of Foreign Influence differ markedly from each other.
“Certain political leaders have the notion that their country is perfect and has the right to protect its interests at all levels, while Georgia should be, at least temporarily, an incomplete country that should exist under external governance,” Kadagishvili said.
“This is the difference between our vision and that of external actors,” he added.
