GD's Kadagishvili: Ukrainian authorities sheltering individuals who committed multiple crimes in Georgia

“Regrettably, the Ukrainian authorities are sheltering individuals who committed multiple crimes in Georgia and appointing them to high-ranking political or administrative positions. This is a certain reserve, and they try to preserve it in one form or another,” said Irakli Kadagishvili, MP of the Georgian Dream (GD) party.

According to Kadagishvili, if given the opportunity, the Ukrainian government will attempt to bring him back into Georgian politics.

“This is part of the actions within the international network; They are sheltering politicians whose irrational policies have led to Russian aggression against Georgia and gross violations of human rights. This is a certain reserve, and they try to preserve it in one form or another,” he said.

For context: Georgia’s former Prosecutor General and Minister of Justice, Zurab Adeishvili, has been appointed Director of the Department of International Police Cooperation in Ukraine. Prior to this role, he had served as adviser to the Ukrainian Prosecutor General.

Adeishvili has faced multiple criminal proceedings in Georgia, both as a defendant and as a convicted individual. Among other cases, a Georgian court sentenced him to six years in prison in connection with the beating of Koba Davitashvili. He was also listed as an Interpol fugitive until 2015.
