Lithuanian FM warns that misuse of FARA jeopardises Georgia’s democratic foundations
“The abuse of the so-called Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) raises profound worries about the state of democracy in Georgia,” Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys stated before the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting.
He highlighted that the worsening situation in Georgia is a matter of genuine concern.
“The deterioration of the situation in Georgia is, of course, a cause for alarm, and we will be discussing it today. The misuse of the so-called Agents Act raises deep concerns about the health of democracy in Georgia. I look forward to engaging with my colleagues on possible responses to this issue,” Budrys said.
