Officers from the Interior Ministry’s Central Criminal Police Department have arrested seven people in separate operations on charges of illegally acquiring and possessing particularly large quantities of narcotics and facilitating their sale.

According to Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, the detained include both Georgian and foreign nationals.

“Comprehensive investigative work by law enforcement established that the accused were involved in illegal drug-dealing schemes in various capacities, including as part of a group.

Searches of the suspects, their homes and their vehicles uncovered particularly large quantities of various drugs, which were seized as evidence. These included 352 pre-packaged doses of alpha-PVP, as well as mephedrone, methadone, clephedrone, MDMA, dried cannabis and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

Police also seized materials used for packaging the drugs.

The investigation is being conducted under Articles 260 and 260⁴ of the Criminal Code, which carry sentences of up to 20 years or life imprisonment,” the ministry said.
