GD's Gorduladze: Georgia expects strategic partnership with U.S. to be restored

Member of the parliamentary majority Archil Gorduladze expressed hope that Georgia’s strategic partnership with the United States will be restored on the basis of concrete steps, mutual respect, and equality.

Gorduladze made the statement when asked about an open letter from the Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili to U.S. President Donald Trump.

“Unfortunately, the so-called ‘Deep State’ continues to exert pressure on Georgia because we have not accepted the tasks imposed by its representatives. When both we and the President of the United States speak about fighting the ‘Deep State,’ we wish success in this effort. However, this success cannot be achieved as long as pressure, blackmail, and attempts to punish the Georgian people continue,” Gorduladze said.

According to him, it is “surprising” that the U.S. administration actively engages with Georgia’s neighboring countries but maintains “silence” toward Georgia.

Gorduladze noted that the Georgian government’s stance fully aligns with the current U.S. administration on issues such as resisting “pseudo-liberal doctrines” and addressing matters related to USAID.

“We expect that the strategic partnership with the United States will be restored on the basis of concrete steps, mutual respect, and equality. The key priority is the interests of the Georgian people, who value relations with the world’s leading economy and our strategic partner. Resetting these relations will ultimately benefit both Georgia and the United States,” Gorduladze stated.
