Deputy Defense Minister partakes in Ramstein format at NATO Headquarters

First Deputy Minister of Defense of Georgia, Paata Patiashvili, is currently visiting the Kingdom of Belgium.

According to the Ministry of Defense, Patiashvili took part in the 28th meeting of the Ukrainian Defense Contact Group, held in the Ramstein format at NATO Headquarters in Brussels.

The meeting brought together defense ministers and high-ranking officials from NATO member and partner countries.

The German Defense Minister, Boris Pistorius and the UK Secretary of State for Defense, John Healey, opened the session. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte addressed the participants, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke via video conference. Attendees discussed the current situation in the ongoing war in Ukraine, focusing on military aid and urgent support needs.

The Ramstein format was launched in April 2022 at the initiative of the United States. Since February 13, 2025, it has been jointly coordinated by the United Kingdom and Germany.
