Georgian Border Police Coast Guard delegation visits NATO Maritime Command in UK
A delegation from the Coast Guard Department of the Border Police of Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has paid an official visit to the NATO Allied Maritime Command (MARCOM) in Northwood, United Kingdom.
According to the Georgian Border Police, the working meeting was attended by Coast Guard Department Director Iuri Pirtskhalavaishvili, Head of the Joint Maritime Operations Center (JMOC) Organizational and Technical Support Division Badri Shengelia, and Liaison Officer to NATO Allied Maritime Command Nodar Nadirashvili. The delegation was hosted by senior representatives of the NATO Maritime Command.
During the visit, both sides positively assessed the long-standing and successful cooperation between NATO Allied Maritime Command and the Georgian Coast Guard.
Special attention was given to Georgia’s contribution within NATO’s maritime security operation Sea Guardian, particularly the role of Georgian Coast Guard boarding teams.
The visit aimed to review ongoing maritime security activities and outline prospects for future cooperation.
Officials said the meeting once again underlined Georgia’s important role in supporting international maritime security efforts.
