First Deputy Minister of Defence pays working visit to Italy

The First Deputy Minister of Defence of Georgia is currently undertaking a working visit to the Republic of Italy.

During a meeting held at the Naval Palace in Rome, Paata Patiashvili discussed bilateral defence cooperation with his Italian counterpart, Matteo Perego di Cremnago.

According to the Georgian Defence Ministry, the discussions centred on the progress of bilateral cooperation and the prospects for its further development. Both sides emphasised the importance of maintaining high-level dialogue and consultations, which are vital for strengthening the existing partnership and fostering mutual trust.

The dialogue also addressed regional security issues and current challenges. The parties agreed to continue working on initiatives aimed at deepening collaboration in defence and security matters. As part of his visit, the First Deputy Minister also toured Leonardo S.p.A., Italy’s leading defence industry company.
