Defence Minister meets newly appointed NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for Caucasus and Central Asia

The Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of Georgia, Irakli Chikovani, welcomed the recently appointed Special Representative of the NATO Secretary General for the Caucasus and Central Asia, Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Partnership, Kevin Hamilton.

According to the Ministry of Defence, during the introductory meeting, Minister Chikovani congratulated Ambassador Hamilton on his appointment and extended his best wishes for success in his upcoming endeavours.

The discussions, held at the Ministry of Defence, centred on the main avenues of NATO-Georgia cooperation and prospects for future collaboration. Particular attention was paid to the achievements realised through years of partnership, including initiatives under the NATO-Georgia Substantial Package (SNGP).

Kevin Hamilton expressed his gratitude to Georgia for its contribution to the collective Euro-Atlantic security. The meeting underscored the importance of practical cooperation with NATO, which plays a vital role in Georgia’s defence reform and in enhancing interoperability with the Alliance.

As part of his visit, the Special Representative will tour the NATO-Georgia Joint Training and Evaluation Centre (JTEC), where he will review its capabilities and infrastructure, developed with the support of international partners.
