Deputy Economy Minister meets China’s Trip.com group Vice President
Georgia’s Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Irakli Nadareishvili, together with National Tourism Administration Head Maia Omiadze, met with Edison Chen, Vice President of China’s major technology group Trip.com Group.
According to the Ministry of Economy, the meeting focused on Georgia’s tourism potential and opportunities for further cooperation.
The sides noted that, as part of Georgia’s integrated marketing campaign in the Chinese market, cooperation is underway with Trip.com Group’s popular travel platform Ctrip. A dedicated Georgia page has been launched on Ctrip, allowing users to explore Georgian tourist destinations and products and search for and purchase flights, hotels and other tourism services directly through the platform.
Nadareishvili highlighted China as a strategic tourism market for Georgia, emphasizing the importance of targeted marketing campaigns and the launch of additional direct flights between the two countries.
The meeting also highlighted that the main goal of the campaign is to raise awareness of Georgia as a tourism destination in the Chinese market, attract potential travelers and ultimately encourage travel and bookings to Georgia. The campaign will continue through the end of 2026.
According to data for the first two quarters of 2026, Georgia recorded 54,554 international visits from China, a 16.7% increase compared with the same period last year. In the second quarter alone, the number of visits increased by 3.2%.
In 2025, travelers from China made 127,895 visits to Georgia, representing a 44% increase compared with 2024, the Ministry of Economy said.
