Anti-Namakhvani protest organizer says deadline given to government expires on Friday

Varlam Goletiani, one of the organizers of Anti-Namakhvani HPP protests said that the deadline given to the government on fulfillment of protesters’ demands expires on Friday. If the government refuses to meet their demands, protesters pledge to launch large-scale protest rallies.

“We will wait for the government for a response. Otherwise, we will expand our protest and unveil a new action plan. If the road is opened and construction works are stopped, we will have the possibility to move freely and agree on a dialog,” Goletiani said.

Opponents of Namakhvani HPP construction have been rallying for over 5 months. They are concerned that HPP construction could harm the environment.
