Tbilisi Mayor on Saakashvili: It's unthinkable for officials to misuse budget for personal expenses
“For personal well-being, one should use their own savings, not budget funds,” this is how the Tbilisi Mayor, Kakha Kaladze, responded to the verdict in the case of misappropriation of large amounts of budget funds by the former President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili.
“It’s really wrong when an official (regardless of what position someone holds) spends people’s money for their personal well-being. It’s unimaginable to take and finance, for example, your own children’s education from the budget or buy gifts for girlfriends. If you want to do this, you should do it from your personal savings and income, not with budget money,” noted the Tbilisi Mayor.
