Penitentiary Service: Saakashvili felt unwell, no injuries found after checkup
Special Penitentiary Service of Georgia reports that the jailed former President Mikheil Saakashvili felt unwell yesterday and was provided with first aid on the spot by penitentiary doctors.
The statement follows claims by journalist Nanuka Zhorzholiani on social media, who said that Saakashvili had lost consciousness in his cell and sustained head and limb injuries after a fall.
According to the Penitentiary Service, Saakashvili subsequently underwent X-ray examinations, which did not reveal any injuries.
