UNM's Pavlenishvili views relations with international partners as significant but says public politics is foremost
“Relations with international partners are significant, but public politics is foremost. In this regard, I agree with both Melia and Saakashvili and other politicians,” said Irakli Pavlenishvili, a member of the United National Movement (UNM) party.
Pavlenishvili was asked to remark on the Facebook post by Nika Melia, one of the leaders of Ahali party, saying: “Those considering governing should rethink their approach: ten visits to Zugdidi against one to Brussels.”
Irakli Pavlenishvili said he would not criticize Melia’s statement since he was a political prisoner. As for ex-president Saakashvili’s statement, he stated: “Mikheil Saakashvili cannot be censored. He can evaluate the present, the past, and the future, give us advice, and that is the main thing.
According to Pavlenishvili, Mikheil Saakashvili’s accentuating facts is not a violation of the agreement.
“This could not be the final unification since new configurations always emerge in the political process. This was a direct unity of the resistance forces. As for the politicians’ statement, I repeat once again, we have not violated the agreement. Mikheil Saakashvili’s accentuating facts is not a violation of the agreement. Assessing the past on Saakashvili’s part will continue in the future. Some may not like it, but he will have the right to make statements and assessments,” Pavlenishvili said.
