UNM's Pavlenishvili views Mikheil Saakashvili's freedom as priority issue

“Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about unresolved issues between the countries, and we can directly list them. These are the ‘Dream’s’ Russian propaganda narratives and an anti-Ukrainian campaign,” said Irakli Palavandishvili, a member of the United National Movement (UNM) party.

According to Pavlenishvili, Mikheil Saakashvili’s freedom could be meant in the statement made by the President of Ukraine.

“This is a significant and priority issue, and many statements were made about it. Another issue is a humanitarian problem that Ukrainian citizens face at the Larsi checkpoint. Their statements were a response to the Georgian side’s activities. Zelenskyy was accused of provocation, the government was engaged in propaganda spreading anti-Ukrainian narratives, saying the global war party, not Putin, had started the war in Ukraine. They are equating Saakashvili and Zelensky, thereby discrediting both of them and the West. This campaign should stop. As for Saakashvili, he is a significant figure not only for Georgia but also for Ukraine. He was a member of Zelenskyy’s government and must be released,” he said.

Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the eighth summit of the European Political Community (EPC) in Yerevan, on May 4.
