Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili spoke about the importance of Georgian science and the country’s intellectual potential at an event marking the 85th anniversary of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences.

The president congratulated representatives of the National Academy of Sciences on the anniversary, noting that its 85-year history symbolizes Georgia’s intellectual heritage and its pursuit of progress.

According to Kavelashvili, science not only enables people to understand the world but also directly shapes everyday life, technological progress and the prospects for societal development.

Kavelashvili also discussed Georgia’s potential to become an international center of intellectual activity and, through scientific cooperation, make a positive contribution to global peace, stability and efforts to overcome crises. He said achieving this goal was directly linked to the country’s sustainable development and peaceful future.

“Today, it is our duty, as a state and a society, to stand firmly behind Georgian scientists and help preserve the chain of generations so that together we can build an even stronger, safer and more developed Georgia,” the president said.

Kavelashvili attended the anniversary event alongside the prime minister, the parliamentary speaker, the president of the National Academy of Sciences and representatives of the legislative and executive branches of government.
