Ex-President Saakashvili: Yesterday should be lesson to learn for those who boycotted protest
“The current impetus should not cease; on the contrary, it should be amplified, while the resistance movement should extend throughout the entire country. If we act boldly, we will win,” jailed ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili wrote in his social network post.
According to Saakashvili, Georgia has not died; it is gaining strength and will revive again.
“Yesterday’s large-scale rally with the participation of people in defending Georgia’s independence and freedom of the Georgian people gave a fresh breath to our resistance movement.
Of course, it requires better organisation and fierce fighting, though the dictatorship’s attempt to incite nihilism and fear failed yesterday. At the same time, yesterday should be a lesson to learn for those politicians who boycotted the protest.
I am grateful to all those who joined the rally, as well as organizers and initiators. My gratitude to those who carried my and other political prisoners’ photos and those speakers who demanded the release of political prisoners.
We demonstrated that we can be many when we are together and cannot be defeated. Georgia has not died; it is gaining strength and will revive again.
However, the current impetus should not cease; on the contrary, it should be amplified, while the resistance movement should extend throughout the entire country. If we act boldly, we will win,” Saakashvili said.
