Speaker recalls military salutes to Russia by Ukraine, Poland, UK, USA, and France following August war

“Amid Brussels’ threats to leaders considering travel to Moscow on May 9, it’s hard not to recall May 9, 2010, in Red Square, just months after the August war,” Shalva Papuashvili, Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, wrote on social media.

“The armed forces of Ukraine, Poland, the UK, the USA, and France were paying military homage to the President of Russia. Perhaps this was due to the fact that our war was not recognized as a war, our blood was not deemed valuable, and our tears were not considered genuine…” Papuashvili added.
