Speaker: Same faces fight against state and church

“They are attempting to derail from the main spiritual path, which the Georgian people have followed for centuries,” said Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili.

According to the Speaker, the same people are fighting against the state and the church.

“This is a group of individuals who are attempting to derail the country from its historical path, which is reflected both in political and spiritual life. They are trying to derail us from the historic-political path, which means our nation’s prosperity and the country’s unity. They are also attempting to derail us from the spiritual line, which the Georgian people have followed for centuries.

Nothing is astonishing in that. The same people are fighting against the state and the church. This is the same fight which they have declared to Georgia, its statehood and spiritual side. Both the nation and the clergy should acknowledge the fight Georgia is in. This struggle, as it has been waged with dignity so far in favor of Georgia and our interests, must continue,” he said.
