Dito Chubinidze, a journalist with the Georgian newspaper Asaval-Dasavali, has been released on bail of GEL 4,000 following a decision by the Tbilisi Court of Appeals.

Chubinidze’s lawyers appealed the first-instance court’s ruling, which had ordered his pretrial detention as a preventive measure.

For context, Georgia’s Prosecutor General’s Office arrested Domenti (Dito) Chubinidze on October 22 under a court warrant on charges of treason against the homeland, specifically sabotage.

According to the investigation, since February 2026, Chubinidze has systematically disseminated false and misleading information through various media outlets and social media platforms, claiming, based on fabricated facts, that Georgia’s prime minister had transferred part of the David Gareji Monastery complex to the Republic of Azerbaijan under a secret agreement with the neighboring country.
