Speaker rejoices, congratulates Georgian people on witnessing enthronement of new Patriarch 

Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili congratulated Catholicos-Patriarch, His Holiness and Beatitude Shio III on his enthronement.

According to the Speaker, it is significant that the merit of late Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II continues.

“I congratulate the whole of Georgia on the accession of Shio III, Catholicos-Patriarch, His Holiness and Beatitude, to the holy trone of Andrew the First-called. This is a historic day and a moment, which is rare for the nation. We all rejoice in witnessing this moment.

I would like to wish His Holiness and Beatitude to continue the half-century work of Ilia II. We are happy to be people and parishioners who were born, raised, and brought up during the period of Ilia II. We are the people who felt this spiritual link which Ilia II established between himself and each Christian Georgian. Significantly, the merit of the late Catholicos-Patriarch continues.

We are happy that we start from the point where Ilia II revived and revitalized the robe-covered Georgian church, uniting us as parishioners. We are at the moment when Ilia II sowed, and we reap,” he said.
