The Ulaanbaatar Grand Slam has concluded in Mongolia, offering athletes an opportunity to earn ranking points toward qualification for the Los Angeles Olympic Games.

On the final day of competition, Georgia won two medals through Ilia Sulamanidze and Irakli Demetrashvili.

Demetrashvili claimed the silver medal after losing the gold medal bout to South Korea’s Kim Min-jong on penalties. Notably, the world’s top heavyweight judokas competed in this edition of the Grand Slam.

Sulamanidze secured the bronze medal after his opponent in the third-place contest, Mansur Kostoev, did not appear for the match.

The Georgian national team finished the tournament with a total of two medals.
