Speaker: OSCE/ODIHR findings ignored by European Politicians after elections

“The entrenched political corruption within the European Parliament is a separate issue, reflected in five unjust resolutions against Georgia,” Speaker of Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, stated.

Speaking on Rustavi 2, Papuashvili urged European politicians to honour their commitments.

“All our international partners emphasized that the OSCE/ODIHR report would be decisive in evaluating the elections. However, once the report was published, this promise was disregarded,” he stated.

Papuashvili reiterated Georgia’s willingness to study and implement the recommendations outlined in the report, noting the importance of preparation for upcoming local self-government elections.

“We were assured by European politicians that the OSCE/ODIHR conclusions would guide their assessments. Yet, after the elections, these conclusions were ignored. Their focus shifts arbitrarily—sometimes on ISFED reports, sometimes on IRI, and so forth. The European Parliament’s resolutions have become absurd and devoid of credibility. These five unjust resolutions against Georgia reflect a deeper issue of political corruption within the European Parliament,” Papuashvili said, calling on European politicians to stay true to their word.
