Patriarch Shio III: Glory and thanks be to the Lord, we still have time for repentance
The Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Shio III delivered a sermon on the first Sunday after Pentecost during a service at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Tbilisi.
In his address, the Patriarch thanked God for His mercy, love, and patience, emphasizing that humanity is still given time for repentance.
“Glory and thanks be to the Lord that He is merciful, loving, and long-suffering, and that we still have time for repentance,” he said.
He extended congratulations to the faithful on All Saints’ Day, describing it as a day dedicated to the remembrance of all saints and, symbolically, to everyone’s spiritual guardian angel.
The Patriarch reflected on the meaning of sainthood, explaining that the lives and struggles of saints demonstrate the spiritual fruit of Christ’s incarnation, crucifixion, resurrection, and the coming of the Holy Spirit.
He spoke about the hardships endured by saints, noting that their steadfast faith often appears incomprehensible to the world but is rooted in their devotion to Jesus Christ as a living God and Savior.
He emphasized that saints chose Christ even in the face of persecution and societal rejection, and that their courage and love made them worthy before God.
At the conclusion of his sermon, he once again stressed the importance of repentance and perseverance, encouraging believers to remain steadfast on their spiritual path.
“Let us be comforted by the words of Saint Paul: ‘Let us run with patience the race that is set before us,’” he said.
The Patriarch extended blessings to the faithful and prayed for the strengthening and unity of Georgia, invoking the intercession of all saints.
