Speaker meets Maltese counterpart at PAM Speakers’ Summit
The Georgian Parliament Speaker, Shalva Papuashvili, met with the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Malta, Angelo Farrugia, during the first summit of the Speakers of Parliaments of the Member and Partner Countries of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) in Budva.
Papuashvili positively assessed relations between Georgia and Malta at both bilateral and multilateral levels and warmly recalled his official visit to Malta in 2023.
According to the Georgian Parliament Speaker, Malta plays a special role in supporting the rules-based international order, and he emphasized the importance of continuing dialogue between the two countries.
Papuashvili also expressed gratitude for Malta’s support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The parties discussed bilateral cooperation, including parliamentary relations, as well as the significance of regional platforms amid instability in the international order. In this context, they highlighted the importance of the activities of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean.
The Georgian parliamentary delegation, led by Papuashvili in his capacity as President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization, also includes Irakli Mezurnishvili, First Deputy Chairman of the Economic Policy Committee and Head of the Permanent Delegation of the Georgian Parliament to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization.
