The Georgian Parliament Speaker, Shalva Papuashvili, met with Jeyhun Bayramov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
According to the Georgian Parliament, both sides highlighted the strong relations between Georgia and Azerbaijan, grounded in long-term cooperation and friendship. They emphasised mutual support for each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and positively assessed the active exchange of bilateral visits.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs noted that this was his third visit to the Georgian Parliament and recalled that both the President and Prime Minister of Georgia made their first official visits to Azerbaijan, underscoring the special friendship between the two nations.
The discussion covered bilateral and multilateral relations, with Shalva Papuashvili highlighting the productive parliamentary cooperation. They acknowledged the growing geopolitical and geoeconomic significance of the Middle Corridor, as well as the substantial potential of strategic transport and energy projects.
Current developments in the South Caucasus and the broader region were also discussed, including the ongoing peace negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, with both parties stressing the importance of regional stability.
