Sarphi checkpoint resumes work in usual regime

Sarphi Georgia-Turkey state border checkpoint has resumed working in its usual regime. According to Ministry of Internal Affairs, movement on both sides is restored for the traffic and pedestrians.

Movement was limited due to collapse of part of the rock as result of the landslide on the Turkish side at Sarphi.The road connecting Sarphi-Trabzon was closed earlier this afternoon during 2 hours.

“Due to security measures, at request of Turkey and upon decision of relevant agencies of both countries, movement of traffic and pedestrians is temporarily limited. Movement will be restored as soon as the road is cleaned,” read the statement of MIA released earlier.
