Law enforcers detain one foreign national for illegal import of psychotropic substance

Officers of the Central Criminal Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and the Customs Department of the Revenue Service of the Finance Ministry detained a foreign national for illegal purchase, possession, and import of psychotropic substances into Georgia.

According to the MIA, an investigation is in progress under Articles 261 and 263 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which pertain to imprisonment for a term of up to 12 years.

Law enforcement officers seized a particularly large quantity of the psychotropic substance Pregabalin – 662 pills – while checking the detained individual’s hand luggage at the Kutaisi International Airport.
