Traffic restrictions in Tbilisi extended due to Independence Day events

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has reminded citizens that traffic restrictions remain in place in central Tbilisi due to events marking Georgia’s Independence Day.

According to the ministry, vehicle movement on Rustaveli Avenue toward Liberty Square is restricted until 08:00 on May 27, specifically on the road section up to the intersection with Zurab Chichinadze Street.

During this period, vehicles traveling along Rustaveli Avenue will be able to continue as far as Gia Chanturia Street, from where they can turn left and use Chanturia and Virsaladze streets to access the right embankment of the Mtkvari River and connect to Nikoloz Baratashvili Street.

The ministry also stated that traffic is restricted around Liberty Square and adjacent areas. In addition, vehicle movement near the Presidential Palace on Atoneli Street will remain limited until the end of May 28.

Drivers traveling from Soliko Virsaladze and Giorgi Chanturia streets toward Atoneli Street will be redirected via Italy Street toward Dry Bridge, while traffic from Dry Bridge toward Atoneli Street will use Virsaladze and Chanturia streets.

Vehicles ascending from the right embankment of the Mtkvari River near Rena Abzhandadze Street will be able to travel toward Vakhtang Orbeliani Street and then continue in the direction of Mtkvari Street.

Traffic restrictions will also remain in effect through May 28 in the Dry Bridge area, including Italy Street and Atoneli Street.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, vehicles traveling from Saarbrücken Square toward Dry Bridge will be redirected toward the right embankment of the Mtkvari River via Giovanni Scudieri Street, while drivers traveling from Virsaladze Street toward Dry Bridge will move toward Atoneli Street before turning right onto Chanturia Street.
