PM: Restoring US-Georgia partnership from clean slate vital, we hope with shared values relations will be reset

“There has been speculation about Georgian-American relations, and in this context, it is also significant that Georgia has received the agrément for the appointment of its new ambassador to the United States,” Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated.

According to Kobakhidze, Georgia will soon have an officially appointed ambassador in Washington.

“The nomination has been submitted to the President, and Tamar Taliashvili — an exceptionally qualified candidate — will be appointed as ambassador. The task is clear—we discussed how we see the development of Georgian-American relations, with a focus on renewing the strategic partnership. We have openly stated that restoring this partnership from a clean slate is essential. Moreover, we want it to be rebuilt with a concrete roadmap and defined objectives.

It is also the Ambassador’s role to convey this vision to the new U.S. administration. We remain hopeful that, with shared values, relations will be reset and the strategic partnership restored.

We must reiterate that the struggle between the new administration and the so-called ‘Deep State’ continues, and we have high hopes that the new administration will succeed in this effort,” said the Prime Minister.

Tamar Taliashvili will serve as Georgia’s Ambassador to the United States.
