Georgia to have new Ambassador to U.S. and Permanent Representative to CoE

Georgia is set to appoint a new Ambassador to the United States and a new Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe (CoE).

Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze submitted the candidacies of Tamar Taliashvili as Georgian Ambassador to the U.S. and Khatia Tsilosani as Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe to President Mikheil Kavelashvili for approval.

Tamar Taliashvili brings extensive experience in diplomacy, the public sector, and academia. Since 2022, she has served as Georgia’s Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe and has held the position of Deputy Chair of the Media and Information Community within the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). Between 2018 and 2020, she served as Vice-President of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe.

Her political career includes roles such as Deputy Chair of the Parliamentary Sports and Youth Affairs Committee, First Deputy of the Education and Science Committee, and leadership positions at the Tbilisi City Assembly, where she was Chair of the Education and Culture Committee and Vice-President of the National Association of Local Governments.

Khatia Tsilosani previously served as Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture. She was also a member of parliament from 2014 to 2018 and held the position of First Deputy Chair of the Environment Protection and Natural Resources Committee. Additionally, Tsilosani has gained valuable experience working with various international organizations.
