Ilia Sulamanidze (-100 kg) has claimed the gold medal at the Judo Grand Slam underway in Lausanne, Switzerland, after overcoming Simeon Catharina of the Netherlands in a hard-fought final.

Later today, Guram Tushishvili (+100 kg) will take to the tatami in pursuit of a bronze medal, facing Magomedomar Magomedomarov of the United Arab Emirates.

The Georgian national team now boasts two gold medals at the tournament, following reigning World and European champion Eter Liparteliani’s (-57 kg) victory on 28 August.
