Georgian MFA: Ambassador to Germany yet to present credentials to German President; no official explanation received from Berlin
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia (MFA) states that Aleksandre Kartozia was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Federal Republic of Germany on October 1, 2025, following the agrèment granted by the German side on September 10, 2025.
According to the ministry, the Ambassador has not yet presented his credentials to the President of the Federal Republic of Germany. Copies of the credentials were submitted to the German Federal Foreign Office on December 17, 2025.
The Georgian Foreign Ministry notes that the Georgian side has received no official explanation from its German counterparts.
“To our knowledge, since October 1, 2025, the German President has accepted credentials from the newly appointed ambassadors of Lebanon, Bahrain, Ecuador, Ghana, Canada, Nigeria, Indonesia, the Comoros, the Philippines, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, New Zealand, and Mongolia. The Georgian side has received no official explanation from the German side.
Furthermore, information on Georgian government officials remains outdated on the German Federal Foreign Office website, despite numerous official notifications from Tbilisi. The Georgian side finds the German Federal Foreign Office’s inconsistent approach towards the Georgian state completely incomprehensible,” the Georgian Foreign Ministry stated.
