PM praises Trump's decision to suspend foreign aid programs: Four revolution attempts in Georgia linked to foreign interference

“Over the past three years, there have been four failed attempts to organize revolutions here, all involving foreign funding, including American support. The Trump administration must address this matter,” at a government briefing, the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze addressed questions about U.S. President Donald Trump’s suspension of all U.S. foreign aid programs for 90 days.

The PM welcomed this decision.

“We have consistently discussed the issue of foreign funding, especially after initiating the transparency law. It became evident that funds from abroad were often misused, including financing revolutionary activities in our country. Over the past three years, there have been four failed attempts to organize revolutions here, all involving foreign funding, including American support. The Trump administration must address this matter.

During the debate on the transparency law, some argued we failed to distinguish between Russia and the West. However, we emphasized that any effort against national interests, regardless of origin, must be addressed. Whether the source is American or Russian, a nation’s sovereignty must be defended. The decision by President Trump’s administration validated our position that American funds were sometimes used to undermine the sovereignty of other nations. This decision demonstrated the correctness of our stance, despite criticisms equating it to putting Russia and America on the same level,” said Irakli Kobakhidze.
